Social Games: Farmville on Facebook

I held out for quite some time, resisting the invites to Facebook games. But looking to fill the void left by the Aion beta, I finally caved in this week and decided to give Farmville a whirl.

It's not bad for a simple web game: cute graphics, simple interface, and plenty of options. By selecting crops, you can set your farm to produce daily or hourly - whichever method suits your web browsing time best. I sense a new addiction for me - it will be nice to have a diversion for downtime at work!

It would be a lot funnier if the female avatars were, as is often the case, played by male gamers. Still, funny!

Aion Closed Beta 4: Wrap-up Coming Soon

Wow, what a weekend! Real Life intervened to keep me away from my PC for a good portion of this last closed beta, but I did get to spend a nice chunk of time on Friday playing around a bit more with the crafting system, Saturday night exploring Elyos lands in a small group, and Sunday rounded out with a failed attempt to polish off the last half of lvl 29 (there was just too much random stuff to do and see!).

I'll be writing up some comments, observations, and concerns for the live release this week, as well as posting some amusing screenshots. Right now I'm still feeling the withdrawal, and not really looking forward to tonight's WoW raid.
